MIDLANDS is a musical project that explores themes of landscapes, growth and demise via familiar progressive / electro / techno conventions. The songs typically originate with simple verse-chorus-bridge structures but often develop into extended prog jams, performed either solo or with live instrumentation. There is a deliberate tension between dark, aggressive sequences and more uplifting moments, along with the odd dreamy interlude. A fixation with mind-bending concepts and sonic clutter tends to resolve in the comfort of lush synth lines and airy pads, hoping to reassure that we’ll all be fine in the end.
